Meier's second objective comes in OT to lift Sharks past Ducks



ANAHEIM, Calif. - The San Jose Sharks seemed as though they've built up another star.

Timo Meier scored twice, had a third objective invalidated after an offside audit and added a help Sunday night to lead the Sharks to a 4-3 extra time triumph against the Anaheim Ducks.

His second objective came at the 2:12 check in OT, completing off a frantic scramble before the net. He currently has a profession high, eight-amusement point streak.

"It was a major win by us," Meier said. "We stayed with it. We remained positive and got two enormous focuses."

Logan Couture and Rourke Chartier likewise scored for the Sharks, who've won four of their last five. San Jose goalie Martin Jones ceased 27 of Anaheim's 30 shots on objective.

Meier, 22, was San Jose's first-round pick (ninth by and large) in the 2015 draft. He scored 34 objectives last season, his first full season with the Sharks.

In the wake of beginning 5-1-1, the Ducks endured their fifth successive misfortune. They've surrendered 19 objectives in the five misfortunes.

Sunday the Ducks got two objectives from Pontus Aberg and one from Josh Manson. It was the primary objective of the season for Aberg and the principal multi-objective round of his three-year vocation.

"I got a fortunate skip on the main objective," Meier said. "It was a certainty manufacturer. It's been a while since I've scored in this class. I've indicated I can (score) in the American (Hockey) League."


Goalie John Gibson ceased 45 of San Jose's 49 shots.

Anaheim looked torpid right off the bat in the amusement, falling behind 3-1 to the Sharks previously discovering some start.

Couture put the Sharks up right off the bat in the primary time frame with a wrist shot, however Manson addressed under 2 minutes after the fact with his own short wrister. It was Manson's first objective of the season.

The Sharks at that point took control, getting objectives from Chartier and Meier. Meier's first endeavor at a second objective was eradicated when Ducks mentor Randy Carlyle requested a survey and the Sharks were managed offside.

"In the event that we had a break it was the point at which they were offside on the objective," Carlyle said. "It sort of turned things to support us, and we began to play. Question is, what were we doing in the initial 30 minutes that was such a great amount of not quite the same as the last 30?"



Aberg took a help from Ryan Getzlaf and sent it past Jones for his first objective late in the second time frame. His second objective was a wondrous thing. This one was an unassisted, Aberg weaving the puck forward and backward seven times lastly around San Jose's Joakim Ryan and into the net.

"Their (defenseman) turned his back after my first move," Aberg said. "I endeavored to pull it back. It worked out."

That tied the diversion 3-3 and sent it into extra time.

Meier's second, second objective finished it. After a scramble before the Anaheim net, Gibson seemed to have the puck in his left glove. Be that as it may, rather than covering the puck, he flicked it out and went to Meier, who bored it past him for the amusement champ.

"I thought we had the right to win," said Sharks mentor Peter DeBoer. "There was a major swing in the second time frame when our objective was refused and after that they got the `seeing eye' one.

"I thought we had an open door there to likely put them away and we wouldn't have come down to what it did, however that is hockey. You gotta give them acknowledgment for sticking around. Gibson allowed them to do that."
